Notification of Deceased Student

To officially notify the University of a student who is deceased, please contact the Dean of Students office at (248) 370-3352 or via email at deanofstudents@oakland.edu.

Processing Student Holds in Banner

Many users have access to create/remove holds in Banner. To better understand how holds impact students, go to the hold type code validation table (STVHLDD) to see a list of all holds and which ones prevent students from performing an action such as registration.

To create/remove a hold on a student, go to SOAHOLD.

To create a hold, select the Hold Type. The ‘From’ date defaults to today and the ‘To’ date defaults to 12/31/2099. Enter Reason (if applicable) and Save.

The Release Indicator box is restricted to GroupID users only. This box is to never be checked unless you are logged in with a GroupID. When this indicator box is checked, only the GroupID user can deselect it in order to remove the hold. If this box is checked with the UserID of an employee no longer at OU, please contact regservices@oakland.edu.

To remove a hold, go to the ‘To’ date field and enter today’s date. Any user can remove a hold if the Release Indicator box is not checked. It is very important to maintain and update holds accordingly.

Students can check their holds in MySAIL or find contact information on our Holds page for a specific hold.

Students can order transcripts from SAIL or in-person at the Office of the Registrar. Please refer students to the Registrar web page for further ordering instructions and information

eTranscripts may be ordered by students, and instructions are available on the regular transcripts page. This option allows students an official expedited method of online delivery to any recipient with an email — even weekends and holidays.
