Grade Change Information

The Grade Change Request Form can be found in the Forms menu. Instructions for completing this form can be found in the Guide to Faculty Grade Change Request Form. Please note that only the instructor of record may submit a grade change.

To complete the grade change form, you will: 
  • Log in using your NetID (same as email login).
  • Enter the student ID to populate the student name and email information. Verify that the student name is correct.
  • Enter the CRN (ex: 40001) to populate the course information, including the semester and current grade of record.
  • Enter the new grade. See Oakland University's grading system.
  • Enter valid rationale for the grade change.
    • Per Oakland University Academic Catalog, the Office of the Registrar is authorized to change a final course grade provided the reason for the change is to correct a clerical or procedural error.
    • Per Oakland University Academic Catalog, no changes to a final course grade will be approved on the basis of course improvement or re-examination.
    • I and P grades are temporary grades and, when submitted within the timeframe mentioned below, needs the rationale to be: "Work Completed"
  • Forward the grade change to the appropriate email address as detailed below. 

Please note that the instructor of record cannot approve their own grade change. 

  • For an I grade within the deadline, please route to grdchg@oakland.edu
    Deadline: An incomplete (I) grade must be changed within one year. If course requirements are not completed within one year the incomplete grade shall be changed to a grade of F for undergraduate students or a permanent I for graduate students.

  • For a P grade within the deadline, please route to grdchg@oakland.edu for undergraduate and rammel@oakland.edu for graduate. 
    Deadline: A progress (P) grade must be removed within two calendar years from the date of the assignment. If course requirements are not completed within two years, the progress grade shall be changed to a grade of F for undergraduate students or a permanent I for graduate students.

  • For R grade to any other grade, please route to the appropriate COI/GCOI representative (see below).
    For alpha grade to a different alpha grade, please route to the appropriate COI/GCOI representative (see below).
