Our Mission

The OU Reading Recovery Center’s mission is to provide expert leadership on early literacy intervention teaching, implementation, and research and to conduct annual evaluations of program impacts as part of its commitment to affiliates and stakeholders. Operating under rigorous national standards, the university center maintains its annual national licensure through the leadership of its Reading Recovery Director.

Regional Reading Recovery sites, school districts, and schools are eligible to participate in Reading Recovery through their affiliation with the OU Reading Recovery Center. The Center director leads the implementation of Reading Recovery in Michigan, provides the yearlong post-masters level program (20 credits) to candidates to become certified Reading Recovery Teacher Leaders, delivers continuous professional learning at OU and throughout the state to these teacher leaders in group formats and one-to-one contexts, conducts evaluations of the program and its impacts on children and schools, and disseminates annual reports of outcomes to constituents.
