Research Interests
Throughout my research career I have focused on attachment relationships within the family. At Oakland University I have studied the ontogeny of sibling attachment bonds, the similarities and differences in sibling, best friend, and significant other bonds, and the role of sibling relationships across the life-span. My students and I have studied enduring intimate relationships by addressing the question of how the concept of intimacy varies both across relationships and across the life-span. In recent years, my students and I have focused our attention of a project we call "The Pursuit of Happiness". In this project we assess the impact various cognitive and behavioral processes have on satisfaction with life, psychological well-being, and social well-being. This project involves a series of empirical studies and interventions as we strive to create a program to assist individuals in obtaining greater happiness in life. Please see the Research section of my personal web page for summaries of these projects.
Publications
Abstracts of my recent publications are posted on the Research section of my personal web page.
