Oakland University’s Bachelor of Science in Information Technology is ranked among the 25 best programs of its kind according to a recent survey by ValueColleges.com.

Schools were ranked based on four quantifiable factors: U.S. News ranking, Niche student reviews, cost and alumni salary. Oakland was the highest-rated Michigan school on the list, at No. 16, and was joined by 18th-ranked Ferris State University. Purdue University came in at No. 1, followed by the University of Arizona and Brigham Young University.

The survey recognized Oakland’s Information Technology program for helping students develop versatile skills that can be used in a variety of careers.

“Oakland University provides students with hands-on training, and works with corporate sponsors to give students an opportunity to work on real-world projects before moving into a career,” the survey noted. “The university also offers students a chance to network with professionals in their field for career opportunities.”

Survey data came from IPEDS, Niche, College Scorecard, and U.S. News & World Report. The survey was intended to highlight programs that have demonstrated a commitment to student and graduate success, in the classroom and in the job market.

This is the second time this year that Oakland was ranked in a national survey of the top bachelor’s programs in Information Technology. BachelorsDegreeCenter.org ranked Oakland No. 24 in a study that was published last spring.
