Oakland University expands transfer agreements with Henry Ford College
OU and HFC transfer agreement signing

Oakland University has signed three more articulation agreements to provide Henry Ford College students with a more seamless, cost-effective pathway toward bachelor’s degrees in health care and business-related fields.

The new agreements help transition qualified students from Henry Ford College to Oakland University in pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Bachelor of Science in Applied Heath Sciences and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. They benefit students by increasing the number of transfer credits students can apply toward their degree, and also ensure seamless movement of students between schools by offering course equivalencies that transfer to OU.

For students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, the number of transferable credits increases from 63 to 93. The additional 30 credits will be earned for successful passing of the NCLEX-RN, the nationwide examination for the licensing of nurses in the U.S. OU will verify successful completion of NCLEX-RN and students will have only 32 credits left to complete OU’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

For those pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Sciences, the number of transferable credits rises from 62 to 84. This means students only have to complete 40 credits at OU. For the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, the number of transferable credits increases from 62 to 79 credits, which means that students only have 45 to 54 credits left to complete at OU, depending on their major.

These agreements help students save money, while also encouraging them to complete their associate degree at Henry Ford College. The applied health sciences and nursing agreements are effective through October 2024 and are subject to review for continuation after five years. The business administration agreement is effective through 2022 and is subject to review for continuation after three years.

"We are so proud to be partnering with Henry Ford College to continue forging seamless transfer pathways for students,” said Shane Lewis, director of Undergraduate Admissions at Oakland University. “These new agreements help to ensure efficient and continuous advancement in learning for students at HFC interested in completing their bachelor's degree at OU."

OU also offers the Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) to Henry Ford College transfer students. This also means easier access for the region’s state college students, many of whom are the first generation in their families to seek higher education.
