Dr. Stephanie J. Lee, administrative associate at Oakland University, has been selected by the Gary Burnstein Community Health Clinic in Pontiac, Mich. as a recipient of the 2022 Esteemed Women of Michigan Award.

The award honors the achievements of women who work to make their communities a better place. These are women of diverse backgrounds and professions that inspire other women to tackle challenges and make a positive difference.

“I am honored and humbled to be nominated and selected to receive this award,” Lee said.

Dr. Lee joined the Academic Affairs office in September 2002 as the assistant to the Provost and since that time progressed in her responsibilities to hold various administrative appointments.

In her current role as administrative associate, Dr. Lee provides counsel and management support to the university’s Provost. She is responsible for leading or coordinating a variety of matters within the Provost’s office, in collaboration with the Office of the President, Board of Trustees, Communications and Marketing office, and other campus units.

She also supervises coordination of university events, including commencement ceremonies, workshops and dinners.

Stephanie Lee, Esteemed Women Award

Recently, in 2019, Dr. Lee won the Oakland University’s Phyllis Law Googasian Award, and was nominated for the 2020 Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce Silver and Gold award for the Andrew Hooper Pavlic PLC Woman Leadership award. She also won the 2021 Black Women Rock Alumni Award through the Center for Multicultural Initiative’s at Oakland.

Dr. Lee received her bachelor’s degree in Communication from Oakland, a master’s degree in education from Central Michigan University, a post-master’s certificate in higher education and a doctor of education from Oakland.

Dr. Lee was recognized at the annual Esteemed Women of Michigan event, which was held on September 12 at the Troy Marriott in Troy, Mich. All proceeds from the event support Dr. Gary Burnstein Community Health Clinic, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit which provides free medical, dental, and pharmaceutical care to vulnerable community members at no cost.
