Members of the Oakland University campus and surrounding communities will have the opportunity to share their experiences and hear from others on the impact of race in their communities during a town hall meeting from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24 in the Gold Rooms of the Oakland Center.
“Hosting these kinds of events helps us establish Oakland University as a ‘convener of conversations’ about issues of public importance,” said David Dulio, Ph.D., a professor of political science and director of the Center for Civic Engagement at Oakland University.
According to Dulio, the town hall will be moderated by Detroit Free Press columnist Rochelle Riley. It is sponsored by the Center for Civic Engagement, the Center for Multicultural Initiatives, and the Division of Student Affairs & Diversity.
The event is free and open to the public. It is being hosted by Oakland University in partnership with Parents for Educational Equity in Rochester Schools (PEERS), the Greater Rochester Area Inclusion Network (GRAIN), and the Rochester Area Interfaith Network (RAIN).
