Rappers, singers and songwriters Blackbear and KYLE will be co-headlining the 2019 Spring Concert on Friday, April 12 at the Meadow Brook Amphitheatre on the campus of Oakland University.

“The Student Program Board has booked another solid concert to entertain OU students and the general public with well-known and talented performers that will end the 2018-2019 academic year on a very positive note,” said Jean Ann Miller, senior director of the Office for Student Involvement.

Blackbear (Matthew Tyler Musto) has collaborated with numerous musical artists such as Childish Gambino, Billie Eilish, Mike Posner, Linkin Park, Pharrell Williams, G-Eazy, Miley Cyrus and many others. He co-wrote “Boyfriend” with Justin Bieber and the song debuted at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2012. He also produced the title track from G-Eazy’s album These Things Happen, and was featured on the album.

KYLE (Kyle Thomas Harvey) is best known for his breakout single “iSpy,” which has had over half a billion streams on Spotify. He also recently starred in the Netflix original film, “The After Party.”

He has also collaborated with artists such as Kehlani, G-Eazy, Chance the Rapper, Miguel, MadeinTYO, Yuna, Lil Yachty, Wiz Khalifa, 2 Chainz, Ty Dolla Sign and more. His first studio album, “Light of Mine” came out last year and debuted at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 200.

The Spring Concert kicks off at 7 p.m. with a performance by the winner of the 2019 “Battle of the Bands.” KYLE will take the stage at 7:50 p.m., followed by Blackbear at 9 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

“We're excited to be bringing another can't miss concert to OU students and the surrounding community,” said Stephanie Jurva, assistant director of Student Organization Programs at OU.

Tickets to the show are available now to OU students at the Office for Student Involvement Service Window next to the Bear Cave in the Oakland Center — limit one per OU student ID — and will go on sale to the public on Monday, February 11 through Ticketmaster and at 313 box offices until the concert sells out.
