On Friday, February 18, Oakland University will host its first International Student Conference. The event will be held virtually from 8:45 a.m.-3:45 p.m. and will focus on the theme of “Rebuilding and Resilience: Strategies for Post-Pandemic Success.”

The day will include conversations and networking, as well as presentations centered on resilience, leadership, immigration updates, employment opportunities, cultural adjustments and work-life balance.

“We know this has not been an easy time for anyone, but especially for international students,” said Petra Knoche, conference chair and adviser for OU’s International Students and Scholars Office. “We want to provide them with a day of both reflection and action, with tools, techniques and ideas they can use to meet the challenges ahead.”

Presenters will include:

  • Britt Rios-Ellis, Provost and Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs
  • Graeme Harper, Dean of The Honors College
  • Scott Cooper, Immigration Attorney
  • Peter Trumbore, Professor and Chair of the Political Science Department
  • Jim Boniface, Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Special Lecturer

Music will be performed by Mark Stone, Associate Professor of Music, and Enrique Rios-Ellis, Visiting Professor of Music.
