OU leader named to 2019 Women of Excellence list

Anita Hicks, Ed.D, Associate Director of the Oakland Center at Oakland University, has been selected as one of the Michigan Chronicle’s 2019 Women of Excellence.

“Anita is a high-quality leader on our campus, and I was pleased to learn she is being recognized with this honor for her contributions to our campus and the community,” said Glenn McIntosh, Vice President for Student Affairs and Chief Diversity Officer at Oakland University, and member of the 2014 Michigan Chronicle’s Men of Excellence list.

For over a decade, the Michigan Chronicle has celebrated local African American women who inspire others through vision and leadership, exceptional achievements, and participation in community service. The 2019 Honorees will join an elite group comprised over the years of the area’s most influential women.

“Each year in character, in manner, and in style, the Michigan Chronicle celebrates phenomenal women who have demonstrated exceptional courage, unwavering conviction, and extraordinary grace,” said Hiram E. Jackson, Publisher of Michigan Chronicle. “In grand fashion, we will honor these inspirational women at our Women of Excellence event on Friday, May 3.”
