Oakland University’s Center for Civic Engagement, in partnership with the Oakland University Department of Athletics, will host a virtual panel discussion at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14 about the changing landscape of college athletics with regard to “name, image and likeness” rules, expanded use of the transfer portal and other recent developments.
The panel discussion will be moderated by Rico Beard, from 97.1 The Ticket. He is co-host of “The Mike Valenti Show with Rico” that airs weekdays from 2-6 p.m.
The panel will be made up of Jay Bilas, college basketball analyst for ESPN; Michigan State Representative Joe Tate, 2nd District; OU Athletic Director Steve Waterfield; OU Men’s Basketball Head Coach Greg Kampe; and student-athletes Madelyn Cislo (swimming and diving) and Jalen Moore (men’s basketball).
“Topics for the conversation will include gaining some very diverse opinions on some important recent developments that will lead to college athletics adapting and evolving,” said David Dulio, director of OU’s Center for Civic Engagement. “We are very fortunate to have a lineup of experts who can engage in a thoughtful discussion from a wide range of perspectives.”
