The Certificate in Emotional Impairment focuses on in-depth preparation for working with students with emotional / behavioral disorders and is open to qualified candidates with Michigan teacher certification. Candidates have the option to complete coursework for the EI certificate (endorsement) alone, or — with additional coursework — the M.Ed. in Special Education with EI concentration (endorsement).The advanced option is for those who hold a prior special education endorsement in Michigan. The basic option is for general education teachers who hold a valid Michigan teaching certificate.
