OLC membership gives OU staff additional tools

Wed Mar 16, 2022 at 05:22 PM

Oakland University’s e-learning and Instructional Support continues to provide faculty with resources and tools to help them excel at online instruction and teaching. This includes access to the extensive menu of offerings from the Online Learning Consortium. Through the OLC institutional membership, OU staff can take advantage of many free and beneficial services.

OLC offers a number of free webinars, including live webinars and those that are available on demand. The webinars include things like Leveraging Instructional Designers, Innovations in Digital Education and information on using virtual and augmented reality in the online classroom.

Through OLC, Oakland University staff can also participate in the Ideate Salon Series, which are recordings of facilitated discussions of emerging ideas and trends.

Through the institutional membership, Oakland University staff can also access the OLC Research Center for Digital Learning and Leadership. This repository is filled with research studies, white papers, journal articles, webinars, podcasts and publications in areas of teaching and learning, instructional design, leadership, digital learning, annual reports and quality assessments. These resources are curated, relevant and reliable.

OLC also offers tools in the form of downloadable Playbooks that provide resources and support for moving courses to an online format in emergency situations. This includes the new, “Caring for Students Playbook: Six Recommendations.”

With the institutional membership, OLC offers discounts on conferences as well.

Oakland University staff and faculty members can create an OLC account. Go to https://my.onlinelearningconsortium.org and click Create an Account. Use an Oakland University email address and use OU as your organization affiliation. Complete the profile information form and set a password. From there, you will be able login and use the OLC Institutional Member Benefits.
