Hello, I'm Britt Rio-Ellis and I have the honor to serve as the executive vice president for academic affairs and provost here at OU. I cannot express how excited I am that you're looking at the Students Success and Equity dashboard. I'm proud to report that we are the first among the 15 Michigan public universities to adopt this innovative tool, which is now available to all OU faculty and staff. This dashboard was developed with an intentional focus on equity. It is our hope that the dashboard will raise awareness of the challenges faced by many of our students and generate rich conversations about how each of us and our collective units can adjust our practices to better support our students. The purpose of this tool is to give you access to the data you need to start these conversations and to take action to ensure that students from all backgrounds realize their true potential here at OU. We recognize our student population continues to rapidly diversify in many ways. Whether our students are the first in their families to attend college or college wasn't the norm in their respective neighborhoods, we want to make sure that each and every day they attend Oakland, they know that they belong and they see themselves reflected in both our pedagogy and our narratives. It is up to all Oakland faculty and staff to learn more about our students aspirational, navigational, contextual, and cultural capital and to help them ignite their potential through their OU experience. It is important that we understand which academic strategies have the greatest impact on ensuring that our students are successful and that we work together to identify ways to overcome all barriers to students success. The ways in which we use the data garnered through the dashboard, create opportunities for intentional collaboration, and this will facilitate the mitigation of existing equity gaps, therefore, enhancing students success for everyone. Student data can provide a critical lens for faculty, staff and administrators to identify and dismantle systemic barriers that prevent students from crossing the commencement stage and achieving the dream of their degrees. I want to show you just a small amount of what you can learn on the Students Success and Equity dashboard. Please sign up for CETL training or requests to training from the Office of Institutional Research Assessment and Data Analytics for your department or program to further explore your area's specific data. I really look forward to hearing about all the great things that folks will do with these data. I want to take this opportunity to once again, thank you for all you do for OU.
