Henry Baskin, Board Chair, Trustee, donor, advocate

Dear Colleagues,
It is with deep sadness that I inform you of the death of Trustee Emeritus Henry Baskin, who passed away on October 2, 2021. Trustee Baskin was appointed to the Oakland University Board of Trustees for two terms, in 1996 and 2004, and also served as Chair. He provided leadership and service to the Oakland University community until 2012.
Mr. Baskin was a generous donor, supporting a number of areas across campus. His donations for undergraduate and medical school scholarships provided tuition support for students for more than 20 years.
He made enormous contributions to the growth and success of Oakland University by giving of his time, talent and treasure. OU is better off due to the mark he made and through his legacy of strong leadership.
Outside Oakland, Mr. Baskin was member of the Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission and served on the boards of Variety - The Children's Charity and Haven, a non-profit shelter, counseling, advocacy and educational organization for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Mr. Baskin’s family will hold a private service for Trustee Baskin.
