Student Financial Services is accepting proposals from faculty and staff to fund project-based jobs for undergraduate students through the Summer Student Campus Corps (SSCC) program. Jobs can be filled by Michigan residents who were enrolled in a degree-seeking program at least half time for both the winter 2021 and fall 2021 semesters.

SSCC 2021Proposed work positions should enhance the skills of undergraduate students while they obtain relevant job experience and earn wages. Project proposals must be outside the scope of routine positions traditionally offered by the hiring department.

Students in the program are allowed to work up to 40 hours per week between April 26 and August 22 depending on project needs. The Campus Corps rate of pay is set by the hiring department but must be between $9.87 and $12 per hour.

Those interested in submitting a proposal should complete the 2021 SSCC Application and Requisition, which is available via the Student Employment Information and Resources link on the eSpace course overview dashboard. A separate application must be submitted for each project and the above form must be signed by the individual responsible for authorizing the use of the departmental fund code(s) within the respective organization.

The SSCC application deadline is 5 p.m. on  Friday, March 26. Applications received after the deadline will be considered only if funding is available. All requests for funding received by the deadline will be reviewed and evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • uniqueness of the project (non-routine; not general office work)
  • work to be accomplished (project goals)
  • one-time or new initiatives

Those submitting proposals will be notified by Wednesday, March 31, regarding a funding decision. Hiring departments with approved proposals are required to post jobs on Handshake, are subject to equal opportunity hiring guidelines, and are responsible for maintaining accurate records of all candidate interviews.

Those questions regarding the SSCC or the application process should contact Student Employment at [email protected].
