The OU Percussion Ensemble and World Percussion Ensemble present a program of percussion music from Asia. The concert will include music from India, Indonesia and Japan, as well as works by American composers inspired by Asian music traditions. Special guest artist Sam Jeyasingam, OU instructor of Carnatic percussion, will be featured in the performance. Originally from Sri Lanka, Jeyasingam is a virtuoso performer and master teacher of several Indian percussive art forms including the mridangam, tabla, kanjira, morsing and solkattu. He is an accomplished performer in both his native Sri Lanka and in North America, where he regularly tours with several Indian dance groups. Dan Maslanka and Mark Stone, ensemble directors.
