As a medical education institution, our obligation is to provide our students with the best possible and most comprehensive education, including broad training in the area of women’s reproductive health and the care of their children.

Standing by our obligation to provide comprehensive medical education in the face of today’s Supreme Court decision
To the campus community,

Access to equitable and quality reproductive healthcare must be at the heart of our national discussion in the aftermath of today’s U.S. Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. The court’s ruling overturns Roe v. Wade, the 1973 abortion rights case that served as a precedent in reproductive rights cases for nearly a half-century.

Setting aside political and ideological perspectives, there is no looking past that the court’s decision will have a wide-ranging impact on medical education, medical ethics, the patient-physician relationship, and patient care.

We support the American Association of Medical Colleges’ statement. As a medical education institution, our obligation is to provide our students with the best possible and most comprehensive education, including broad training in the area of women’s reproductive health and the care of their children. As educators of the next generation of medical providers, we are committed to patient-centered, evidence-based care that promotes better health for all individuals and communities.
