Beaumont Health and Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine are pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Denenberg, M.D., as chief of Pediatrics for Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak; chair of Pediatrics for OUWB; physician executive for Beaumont Medical Group pediatric subspecialties; and chief of the Pediatrics Service Line for Beaumont Health. Dr. Denenberg was selected after a rigorous, yearlong search and will start in early spring. Thank you to Drs. Daniel Frattarelli and Jeffrey DeVries for their interim leadership.

Currently, Dr. Denenberg serves as the vice president of Medical Affairs at Spectrum Health Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital and Spectrum Health Grand Rapids Medical Center. He has been active in many state and national medical organizations, including the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network, the Children’s Hospital Association and the CDC Caring for Community Influenza Pandemic Readiness Grant program. Dr. Denenberg is also one of 10 physicians on the Michigan Children’s Hospital Clinical Leadership Collaborative helping to reduce incidence of COVID-19 and respiratory illness in children and adolescents. Additionally, he holds federal grant funding in the Eastern Great Lakes Pediatric Consortium for Disaster Response and the Regional Pediatric Pandemic Network.

Dr. Denenberg grew up in southeast Michigan and is a graduate of University of Michigan and Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. His residencies were in pediatrics and emergency medicine, first at New York University – Bellevue Hospital, then at Wayne State University. He is dually board certified in both specialties and actively practices pediatric emergency medicine. In addition, he has earned master’s degrees in bioethics from Michigan State University, and in health quality and safety at Thomas Jefferson School of Population Health. In August, he earned a master’s degree in health administration at the University of Providence.
