Wanda Reygaert

Dr. Reygaert joined the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine in the Fall of 2009 as a founding faculty member. She earned her B.S. in Biology and Medical Technology from Indiana University Northwest and has experience working as a medical microbiologist in clinical laboratories. She earned an M.S. from Purdue University and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has taught numerous college level classes in the last 14 years. She began her Oakland University teaching career in 2004 in the Medical Laboratory Science Program of the School of Health Sciences, where she developed classes in Microbiology, Parasitology/Mycology, Molecular Genetics, and Molecular Pathology. While teaching in the MLS Program, she engaged in research with undergraduate students on antimicrobial resistance of Escherichia coli isolates from urinary tract infections.

She recently served a two-year term as Vice-Chair of the Molecular Diagnostics and Genetics Scientific Assembly for the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS), and is a consultant with the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) as part of a taskforce writing protocols for the use of microarray technology in infectious disease testing. She has been a member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) since 1993, and a member of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) since 1999.
