Students and employees are protected against discriminatory harassment that occurs due to ;race, sex, age, height, weight, disability, color, religion, national origin, marital status or any other characteristic protected by federal or state law.

There are two forms of harassment:
  • Quid pro quo sexual harassment is where sex is explicitly or implicitly a term or condition of an individual's education or employment. The submission to or rejection of sexual favors may not be used as the basis for academic or educational decisions or for employment decisions.
  • Hostile environment harassment, the second form of harassment, occurs when the conduct is so severe or pervasive that it has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual's academic performance, use of university services, or work that creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive educational or working environment.
To learn more about sexual harassment and prevention visit the UDC training module. Oakland University supervisors should also consult the supervisors guide to dealing with issues of sexual harassment.

Any form of discriminatory harassment is against the law and university policy. Any student or employee that believes she/he has been harassed by a university employee is encouraged to contact UDC immediately, 203 Wilson Hall, (248) 370-3496.
