Housing at OU

Students with a housing scholarship who are interested in studying abroad must visit the financial aid office to go over financial aid requirements (scholarships, grants, loans, etc.), and how they may be affected by financial aid during and after study abroad. As scholarships have different requirements, it is important to be informed. Contact financial aid at or (248) 370-2550.

Students living in University housing before studying abroad must contact the OU Housing Office to cancel the housing lease/contract Housing Contract, before their departure date. Housing lease cancellation is due November 30. Move out and key return to the Housing Office is due by the last day of finals. The Housing Office is located in Hamlin Hall, Room 448,, (248) 370-3570.

Students planning to move back into the Residence Halls in the Fall or Winter after studying abroad must follow these steps:

  1. Apply for housing at
  2. Sign-up for Fall semester housing and online application is midnight March 1 (have the computer ready at 11:59 p.m. EST on February 28).
  3. Housing sign-up for the Winter semester following Fall study abroad opens for online application November 1 (have the computer ready at 11:59 p.m. EST on October 31).
  4. Other housing options include the International Village where students have the opportunity to live in a multi-cultural living and learning community. The International Village is open to students who hold Junior standing (56 credits or above) and are at least 20 years old.
