Donor Societies and Recognition

Honors annual donors to Oakland University for gifts of $1,000 or more in a calendar year.

The Oakland Circle recognizes individual donors whose total annual giving equals $1,000 or more during the year.

Every donor has the opportunity to impact the future of Oakland University. Annual gifts of $1,000 or more show an extraordinary commitment to Oakland University’s mission, values, students and faculty.

Qualifying gifts may be made through a one-time donation or multiple gifts throughout the year or recurring monthly gifts that total $1,000 within one year.

Honors donors of all levels who support OU for three consecutive years or more.

Individuals who have donated to Oakland University for three or more consecutive years are recognized with membership in Oakland University’s Black and Gold Loyalty Society.

Black and Gold Loyalty Society members help Oakland University strengthen our ability to create and sustain educational opportunities for deserving students.

• Gifts of any amount to every area of Oakland University are accepted
• Alumni, faculty, staff, and friends are eligible to become members
• Members are invited to exclusive events and recognized in the Honor Roll of Donors

Members of the Black and Gold Loyalty Society impact Oakland University through their support and commitment. By consecutively donating, Black and Gold Loyalty Society members demonstrate how one generation can promote the next. Members who give to Oakland University make an excellent investment that expands opportunities for education and the futures of students. Whatever the gift amount, Oakland University values donors and their contributions.

This society honors those who have made thoughtful provisions to Oakland University through estate planning or deferred giving options.

The Vision Society recognizes all those who contribute documented planned gifts to Oakland University with the intent of building a legacy for OU's future. Vision Society members can support many different scholarships, programs and other University needs by:

• Including OU as a beneficiary in a living will or trust
• Creating a life-income gift through a charitable gift annuity or charitable trust
• Naming OU as a beneficiary or owner of a life insurance policy
• Future gifts of real estate and property
• Making gifts of real estate and property

Members of the OU Vision Society have the foresight to know that a planned gift will have an impact on Oakland University long after they are gone.
