Ken Morris Center for the Study of Labor and Work Studies Scholarship

Trustee Emeritus Ken Morris worked directly with Matilda Dodge Wilson, the founder of Oakland University, to launch OU. He became a charter member of the Oakland University Board of Trustees, and has been one of the longest-serving members, sitting on the board for 20 years from 1971 through 1991. Mr. Morris was instrumental in the development of the labor education program at Oakland University. Part of the Human Resource Development Department, the center was established in 1972 as a Labor Education Program to develop future leaders with practical experience and theory focused on the labor movement. In 1983, the center was renamed the Ken Morris Center for the Study of Labor and Work, when he retired as the Director of Region 1B of the UAW. The endowment supports the center and the labor relations program, as well as student scholarships in labor relations.
