Hispanic Celebration 2013 @ Oakland University - September 13 – October 15
It is a long-standing tradition at Oakland University to recognize National Hispanic Celebration Month during the month of September to celebrate the history, politics and culture of Hispanic people, locally and globally. We hope that you enjoy the diverse programs being offered from September 13 through October 15 and encourage all OU students, faculty and staff to attend as many of this year’s programs and activities throughout the month as possible.
CLOSING CEREMONY: LATIN IDOL
Join us for Oakland University’s first-ever “Latin Idol” competition. It will be judged by a panel of Spanish professors, and the top three acts will be awarded. Talents could include, but are not limited to: singing or dancing to a song (in Spanish or English, given that the song is composed or sung by a Latin artist), playing a traditional Hispanic instrument or interpreting a musical piece of Hispanic origin, impersonating a Hispanic celebrity, preparing a typical dish/craft/etc. from a Hispanic country, reciting and/or explaining a poem or interpreting a Hispanic monologue (in Spanish or English), or any other act related to the Hispanic culture that you can think of! To sign up for this event, send your name and a description of the talent you intend to demonstrate to Diane Aguirre (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Brendan Sharp (email@example.com).
