Propping up Children’s Literature Experiences.
Explore the benefits of using props while reading books with young children. Through active engagement, learn how to select developmentally appropriate books, create usable props, and incorporate early childhood standards. There will be giveaways! Margaret Mudge has been a lead teacher at the Lowry Center for Early Childhood Education on Oakland University’s campus since 1999. Margaret has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood from Oakland University. Margaret also teaches Science and Mathematics – Curriculum and Assessment, an undergrad course in the Early Childhood Program at OU.

A Problem Solving Technique for Students with Behavior or Academic Problems
Join Dr. Nick Lauer and Dawn Schultz, for a practical, hands-on session where you will practice a small team (3-4 members) strategy for identifying student strengths, weaknesses and effective interventions for behavior and academic problems. Dr. Nick Lauer is a Special Instructor in the Department of Human Development and Child Studies at Oakland University. Dawn Schultz, MA. Ed. is a Special Education Teacher Consultant for Rochester Community Schools.
