Workshops

e-LIS Workshops

Workshops
Each semester e-LIS offers a number of workshops for the supported software tools, online pedagogy and other topics that are important to faculty and staff. These workshops are located on OU's campus typically at 430 Kresge Library.  Enroll in an e-LIS Workshop here.

NEW! Self-Paced Online Teaching Workshop

This on-demand workshop is intended to help faculty who need to become prepared to teach online quickly. You can start it at any time and complete it at your own pace. On average, the workshop will take about 4 hours to complete. By the end of this workshop, you should feel prepared to design and facilitate the basics of a quality fully-online course.

External Workshops

Online Learning Consortium
The Online Learning Consortium (OLC-formerly Sloan Consortium, Sloan-C) is an association of individuals, institutions and organizations committed to quality online education. Oakland University is an institutional member of the OLC and through this membership e-LIS is able to purchase workshop seats at a discounted rate. Because of this we are able to offer a limited number of OLC's highly regarded workshops at NO COST to full-time and part-time OU faculty members.

OLC Workshops:
View the OLC workshop schedule here. The workshops that are available at no cost are those that have a cost of $270 non-member/$170 member each. OLC's Certificate programs, Mastery series and workshops that cost more than $270 are not included in this offer.

To register for a workshop, complete the OLC workshop registration form. Workshops are limited to two per faculty per fiscal year (July-June).

If you are an OU staff member, note that because there are a limited number of workshop seats available we are only able to fund workshops that are relevant to your current job area. First priority for workshops goes to faculty members.

Any workshops beyond the first two can be booked directly through OLC. The financial responsibility for additional workshops falls on the faculty member or their department.
