Workshops

e-LIS Workshops
Each semester e-LIS offers a number of workshops for the supported software tools, online pedagogy and other topics that are important to faculty and staff. These workshops are located on OU's campus typically at 430 Kresge Library. Enroll in an e-LIS Workshop here.

External Workshops

Online Learning Consortium
The Online Learning Consortium (OLC-formerly Sloan Consortium, Sloan-C) is an association of individuals, institutions and organizations committed to quality online education. Oakland University is an institutional member of the OLC and through this membership e-LIS is able to purchase workshop seats at a discounted rate. Because of this we are able to offer a limited number of OLC's highly regarded workshops at NO COST to full-time and part-time OU faculty members.

OLC Workshops:
View the OLC workshop schedule here. The workshops that are available at no cost are those that have a nonmember cost of $270 each. OLC's Certificate programs, Mastery series and workshops that cost more than $270 are not included in this offer.

To register for a workshop please contact Diane Underwood at ddunderw@oakland.edu. Workshops are limited to two per faculty per fiscal year (July-June).

If you are an OU staff member who would like to take a workshop please contact Diane Underwood and let her know what you are interested in and we will do our best to accommodate you. Because there are a limited number of workshop seats available we are only able to fund workshops that are relevant to your current job area. Please note that first priority for workshops goes to faculty members.

Any workshops beyond the first two can be booked through e-Learning and Instructional Support at the Member rate but the financial responsibility for additional workshops would fall on the faculty member or their department.

OLC Webinars:
The OLC regularly offers free webinars on a variety of topics related to online teaching and learning. View the OLC webinar schedule here.
