Photo of Zexin Marsha MaZexin “Marsha” Ma (Ph.D., University of Maryland, 2018) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication and Journalism. She conducts research at the intersection of narrative persuasion, emerging media, and risk and health communication. She is particularly interested in investigating the social and psychological effects of immersive storytelling. Her current research projects focus on how and why immersive storytelling promotes health and pro-social attitude change.

Dr. Ma’s previous studies have been published in a wide range of journals, including Health CommunicationAtlantic Journal of CommunicationHealth Education, and Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior. She teaches courses such as Introduction to Public Relations, Health Communication, and Research Methods in Public Relations.
