Interested in Becoming a Student Bear Bus Driver?
The Bear Bus Program has grown exponentially since 2009, and as a result, we have an expanded need for student Bear Bus drivers. If you are interested in applying for a driver position, please consider the following:- All Bear Bus drivers are required to undergo an extensive training and qualification process.
- Our drivers are DOT (Department of Transportation) medically certified, and have attained their chauffeurs license, and then a Commercial Driver’s License – Class C with a Passenger Endorsement.
- Students are permitted to work up to 20 hours in a given week. Bear Bus drivers, on average, work between 10-20 hours a week. Each shift is around three or four hours.
Student Driver Requirements
- Students hired as Bear Bus Drivers must be in good academic standing (minimum 2.75 GPA per semester & overall), and must be enrolled in a minimum of six credits per semester. They must also be in good disciplinary standing with the University and University Housing.
- All drivers must have a Chauffer’s License (or willing to get one) and be cleared by Risk Management to drive.
- Once you have been cleared by Risk Management to drive, we will help you along with getting your Commercial Driver’s License.
- All drivers participate in a federally mandated drug and alcohol testing program throughout their employment. Failure to pass a drug or alcohol screening will result in immediate termination.
