David R. McGhee Tuition Award

DescriptionAwarded each year to provide financial assistance to enrolled students from Genessee County/Flint Community Schools who demonstrate defined professional goals and community involvement while experiencing financial hardship. Must be a full-time undergraduate Oakland student in good academic standing and a minimum falll enrollment of 12 credits. Awards are made by the Center for Multicultural Initiatives.

Detroit Compact Scholarship

Description

Awarded to graduating Detroit Compact high school seniors who have met Detroit Compact criteria which includes a 3.00 high school GPA and a composite score of 21 on the ACT. Awards are for up to 30 credits in the fall and winter semester.  Full-time enrollment is required.  The award is renewable by maintaining a minimum 2.50 cumulative OU GPA, continuous full-time undergraduate enrollment in the fall and winter semesters, completion of full-time credits, and meet Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements.  The maximum award is eight consecutive fall and winter semesters.  A completed FAFSA  is required.  Awards are made by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Keeper of the Dream Awards

Description

These awards recognize OU continuing students who have contributed to interracial understanding and good will. Awards ranging from $2,500 - $5,000 are available to students who have demonstrated academic persistence.  Nominees must have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 and a clear career focus.  Information on this scholarship is available from the Center for Multicultural Initiatives.  Awards are made by the Center for Multicultural Initiatives.  This application is available online from August through October on the Center for Multicultural Initiatives' website.

McCree (Wade) Scholarship

Description

Awarded to high school seniors who have participated in the Wade McCree Incentive Scholarship Program during high school and who have a 3.00 high school GPA and a composite score of 21 on the ACT. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required.  The McCree Scholarship is for a maximum of 30 credits per academic year. Full-time enrollment is required.  The award is renewable by maintaining a minimum 2.50 cumulative OU GPA, continuous full-time undergraduate enrollment in the fall and winter semesters, completion of full-time credits, meet Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements, and the annual completion of the FAFSA by June 1 of each year.  The maximum award is eight consecutive fall and winter semesters.  A completed FAFSA is required.  Awards are made by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Oakland University Trustee Academic Success Scholarship

Description

Awarded to  students entering college for the first time with a 3.00 high school GPA and 21 ACT or new transfer students with a 3.00 GPA.  Full-time enrollment is required.  Awards are renewable by maintaining a 2.50 OU cumulative GPA, completion of 28 credits in the academic year, enroll in COM101, meet once a week with peer mentor and meet biweekly with a Center for Multicultural Initiatives staff member.  Awards are made by the Center for Multicultural Initiatives.

Sharp Emergency Book Loan

DescriptionAwarded each year to provide assistance purchasing textbooks at the Oakland University bookstore. Must be a continuing Oakland student in good academic standing and a minimum of 24 completed credits. Awards are made by the Center for Multicultural Initiatives and must be repaid by the end of the academic year.
