Virtual Event: Creative Writing Futures

Building on the success of its Global Creative Writing Hangout
, Oakland University’s Honors College will host the first-ever 12-hour global creative writing gathering Feb. 15-16. Dubbed Creative Writing Futures, this virtual event will engage writers and scholars in a worldwide discussion of creative writing and creative writing education.
“The event will take place in 90-120 minute blocks around the world, with folks linking in during Saturday, Feb. 15 and Sunday, Feb. 16, depending on the time zone, and at suitable times for each link spot,” said Dr. Graeme Harper, dean of the Honors College. “Up to 10 time zones around the world will link in during each period of the day.”
The event is conducted through Google Hangout and supported by Multilingual Matters

The discussion will run from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Feb. 15 Eastern Standard Time. Refreshments will be provided in the Honors College throughout the day, as each time zone links in and the discussion grows.
Excerpts of the discussion will be published in New Writing: the International Journal for the Practice and Theory of Creative Writing and by the International Center for Creative Writing Research.
