2014 Department of English Poetry Contest

The Ekphrasis Poetry Contest challenges writers to create an evocative poetic description of an art object. The object may be original or a reproduction and may include painting, sculpture, carving, photography, or fold art. The contest is open to all Oakland University students, faculty, alumni, and staff members. Oakland University creative writing faculty are ineligible. Entries must be received by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 17 in 544 O'Dowd Hall.

The grand prize is $200, 2nd place is $100, and 3rd place is $50. Three additional prizes of $50 each. Presentations will be made at the Annual Poetry Bash at Oakland University, April 15, 5:30 pm. For more information, view the flyer.
