The School of Education and Human Services received a seven-year accreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) on (November 20, 2020); next visit (Fall of 2027).

Human Development and Child Studies

The following four programs earned Endorsement Program Approvals from the Michigan Department of Education (MDE).

  • Early Childhood Education (General and Special Education); approved (December 12, 2018). Results of the next review/visit are pending.
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD); approved (August 1, 2019). Results of the next review/visit are pending.
  • Emotional Impairment; approved (September 30, 2019). Results of the next review/visit are pending.
  • Specific Learning Disability; approved (October 24, 2014). Results of the next review/visit are pending.

The Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) verified Oakland University's course sequence as meeting the 5th Edition, 225-hour coursework requirement for students taking the Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) examination in (Fall of 2020). Results of the next review/visit are pending.

In a collaborative effort, Human Development and Child Studies and Teacher Development Educational Studies have MDE approval for a Master's of Arts in Teaching-Secondary Education with Special Education Experimental Programs, beginning (Fall of 2021). Results of the next review/visit are pending.

Oakland University's Wellness, Health Promotion and Injury Prevention Programs are no longer accredited by the National Wellness Institute (NWI); last visit (2009), no future visits. The Occupational Safety and Health Undergraduate Program was discontinued in (2016).

The Oakland University-Beaumont Graduate Program of Nurse Anesthesia is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA). MICHIGAN STATE BOARD OF NURSING – pre-licensure (Baccalaureate) programs also require approval by the State Board of Nursing. Oakland University received approval in (2022), which is good until our next CCNE visit in (Spring of 2032).
