|Did You Miss the HMO Presentations on April 24?|
Representatives from HAP, Blue Care Network and Priority Health HMOs made presentations about the staff "Outcomes Based" HMO plans that are coming in 2013. Some highlights:
You can access the training materials on the Benefits and Retirement Training Page, along with a chart that compares the features of the three HMO plans. Once the voice over HMO presentations are completed a notice will be sent. This will allow you to review the slides along with the HMO representatives presentations.
- Current HMO plans are "participation based". If you don't meet the goals set by the plan you may still qualify for the higher level benefit by participating in programs to improve health.
- Outcomes based plans require you to meet the targets set by the plans to reach the higher level of benefits. Each plan offers help in reaching the targets.

A new Career Development Application has been created. One application will now be used by employees, their dependent children, spouses, other qualified adults and children of other qualified adults. The new, online application is now available and will be used beginning with the Summer 1 session. Banner Training Resources on PortAdm now includes FINANCE module!
University Human Resources has created new tutorials on Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, the Budget Development Cycle, and General Ledger Accounts. Each module is broken into two parts: the User Guide and an index of related Forms and Tables. The Banner Resources website is a community resource for OU staff using the Student Module and the Finance Module in Banner. It is currently under construction, with new topics being added daily. |Making Time for Online Learning - Kristen's Story|
In January, Kristen Hudson was hired as a new secretary for the College of Arts and Sciences. Because she moves from desk to desk, her job duties can vary immensely from week to week, or even day to day! She wanted to sharpen her skills in the technical applications that were required in each position in order to stay on top of her diverse projects. From January 1 to March 31 of this year, Kristen completed 60 online SkillSoft courses on Microsoft Office. When asked how she was able to fit this into her busy schedule, she said she was able to take the courses on her lunch breaks, during slow periods at work, and also from home. She already had decent Microsoft Office skills, but each of the online courses would teach her some new tip or trick. "Even finding one new thing makes my job so much easier," she said.
Skillsoft courses are interactive, but different learning styles are considered. Some people like to hear the information, and some prefer to simply read. Kristen likes to go through the content quickly, so she turns off the sound and breezes through. She says that the courses are easy to navigate and very informative. She plans to continue to take advantage of this great professional development benefit that OU provides to all employees free of charge.

|Celebrate National Employee Health & Fitness Day at the 2nd Annual Poker Walk Challenge!

The Poker Walk is a one-mile walk on campus for OU employees, for fun. Participants will pick up poker chips along the way and at the end be dealt a hand of cards. The three best poker hands will win prizes valued at $100 each! Other random prizes will be available at the walk. TEAMs will also be eligible for prizes in selected categories: Best Team Costume, Most Enthusiastic, and Best Team Name. The walk begins and ends at the Recreation Center. If it rains we will walk inside! Snacks will be provided by Whole Foods. You are encouraged to bring your lunch and eat with your colleagues on the Rec lawn or in the Rec Social lounge.
Registration opened April 25th! Everyone MUST be pre-registered by Monday, May 14 at 12 noon! Participants not walking on a TEAM can register individually. TEAMs should have their team captain register for the entire group. Online registration is available at www.oakland.edu/campusrec
All OU employees (faculty, staff, and graduate assistants) are eligible to participate! Membership to the Rec Center is not a requirement!
