Letter from OU President Gary Russi:
“Innovation and Opportunity – The Campaign for OU” has reached its goal of $110 million and continues to impact countless lives. I extend to you my deepest thanks for your faith in our institution and your concern and caring for the lives we touch.
As you peruse these pages you’ll find numerous examples of gifts made to Oakland University in 2008. Many of your gifts have come in the form of student scholarships, a source of support so badly needed by many students and parents facing financial hardship.
Even during this tough economic period Oakland is focused on the future. We are expanding our presence in health care education by bringing a new medical school to Oakland University, a move, which with our partner, William Beaumont Hospitals, will have an everlasting impact on our regional economy and on the physician shortage nationwide.
And, in Macomb County we are building on our intent to develop a 21st century satellite campus to bring quality, convenience and access to Macomb residents. The recently opened Macomb-OU Incubator in Sterling Heights, and the OU Incubator on our campus provide critical business development services and job growth while providing hands-on learning experiences for our students and faculty entrepreneurs.
As we look to the future, we are strengthened by your inspiring gifts and caring involvement in our university and all that lies ahead for our Oakland family.
Gary D. Russi
