OU basketball players named to Scholar-Athlete Team
Senior Nicole Piggott and sophomore Jessica Pike were named to the prestigious fifth annual Scholar-Athlete team by the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association. The pair is among only 11 players from across the nation named to receive the honor.

Oakland makes first round at WNIT
Oakland’s women’s basketball team capped a successful 2006-07 season by earning its first-ever bid to the Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) and hosting the University of Kentucky in the first postseason game ever held at the O’Rena. The Golden Grizzlies, who finished with a 19-13 overall and 12-2 conference record, won the Mid-Continent Conference championship for the third time in program history on the strength of a 12-game win streak in the second half of the season.

New name for Mid-Con
As of June 1, 2007, the Mid-Continent Conference is officially known as The Summit League. The name change is part of an overall initiative to create a renewed emphasis on academic and athletic performance in conference athletes and presidential leadership in the league.

Men’s and women’s swim teams claim eighth straight Mid-Con Championships
Men and women's swimming and diving teams claim their eighth consecutive Mid-Con Championships. Oakland senior Amanda Burwell was named the Mid-Continent Conference Swimmer of the Year. Eleven swimmers earned All-Conference honors.
