Biography

Melissa St. Pierre is a special lecturer at Oakland University. She teaches WRT 150 and WRT 160. She has been teaching since 2010, and has worked at several community college and universities in Michigan. 

She is interested communication styles and shifts among genders, generations, and demographics. Her interests are specifically in what drives language change and meaning shifts. Melissa presented at the Trends in Occupational Studies conference in 2013, and her presentation centered around social media use in the classroom, specifically on its current advantages and reaches. 

She is interested in service learning and is currently developing an article and presentation with another colleague to be presented next year. She is also a grant writer and newsletter editor for non-profit volunteer organizations in her hometown.
