Biography
Lauren Rinke, instructor of first-year writing, attended Michigan State University for her undergraduate education, having majored in English Literature and Film Theory. While at MSU, she volunteered for the Literacy Corps' "Read to Succeed" program for early literacy. Rinke completed her M.A. in English at Oakland University, while also working as a consultant in the OU Writing Center. As a fellow at the Meadowbrook Writing Project (MBWP) Summer Institute of 2011, Rinke presented on utilizing advertisements in the composition classroom to introduce the topics of audience analysis and rhetorical appeals. As an alum and instructor, she loves the community and atmosphere of Oakland and looks forward to co-facilitating the fall and spring Writing Marathons, as well as the opportunity to be involved with the MBWP youth writing workshops.
