Assessing and Managing WPV Threats to Provide a Safer Workplace

About the Workshop
This seminar will provide concentrated information about Workplace Violence (WPV) and the consequences on organizations and its employees. Participants will learn about the different types of violent behaviors and threats; how to recognize signs of impending violent behaviors judicious intervention techniques to mitigate the corporate risks; review current WPV programs, establish new ones, and conduct WPV training programs. Individuals who successfully finish the workshop will receive a certificate of completion.

Instructor
 
Judy L. Jacobs, Ph.D., R.N. has more than 25 years of experience in health care, instructional program design, quality control and risk management. Jacobs co-authored the book, The Workplace Violence in Healthcare Tool Kit: A Guide To Establishing a Prevention and Training Program.  She has designed and presented corporate and organizational violence prevention programs nationwide.

Jacobs developed the first crisis response team in Michigan used in conjunction with law enforcement agencies.  She has served as a national trainer for the National Victim Advocacy Center and on the board of the National Organization for Victim Assistance. She is certified in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing. Jacobs has a doctorate degree in Human Resource Development.

 
Certificate of Completion and NBCC CEUs
Individuals who successfully finish the workshop will receive a certificate of completion with 1.5 NBCC CEUs. Oakland University is an authorized NBCC (www.nbcc.org) continuing education provider. SB-CEUs are not available for this workshop.
