Criteria
Transfer students with a minimum of 24 college credits at the time of application and a GPA of at least 2.5 will be considered for admission to Oakland University. OU also will consider positive trends of most recent grades.
Transfer students with fewer than 24 college credits at the time of application also must submit a high school transcript. Admission will be based on both college and high school records.
College Credits
Oakland University accepts students transferring from regionally accredited four-year institutions and two-year community colleges. Following admission to the university, transfer students will automatically receive a preliminary evaluation of coursework in the mail.

How to Apply
Transfer students should apply in January for the fall semester, in September for the winter semester and in December for spring and summer sessions.
To apply to Oakland University, you should:
- Complete the online application.
- Have your official college transcript(s) mailed to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions from each college or university you attended. The transcript must bear the seal of the institution and must not be stamped "issued to student." If you have attended more than one college, transcripts from each must be provided. All foreign transcripts must be sent to an independent evaluation service.
- If you are not a U.S. citizen, provide a copy of your visa status or both sides of your alien registration card, whichever applies. (Note: All foreign transcripts must be sent to an independent evaluation service.)
- If you are an international student on an F1 or J1 visa, you must submit the International Student Supplemental Application for Undergraduate Study. Please refer to the International Students Web site for more information.
If admitted, you will be invited to attend a two-part
transfer student orientation where you will receive important information on the university, meet with an academic adviser, and register for classes.
