Assistant Professor of Chemistry, CAS
Xiangqun Zeng has established a vigorous research program at Oakland including a cutting-edge research laboratory that has attracted undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.
Her extensive cross-disciplinary research in electrochemistry, spectroscopy, material science, bioengineering, biology and medicine, with a focus on electroanalytical and surface chemistry at metal electrode interfaces, resulted in 17 refereed publications and has attracted grant support from such agencies as the American Chemical Society Petroleum and Research Fund.
With Gabrielle Stryker, assistant professor of biology, Zeng was awarded a $2 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to create a biosensor to distinguish the presence of hazardous biological or chemical agents. In her short time at Oakland University, Zeng has graduated two master’s students, and her research group currently includes a post-doctorate fellow, four doctoral and two master’s students.
