OU to celebrate Cultural Awareness Week

Through a variety of interactive, entertaining and educational events, this year’s Cultural Awareness Week, Nov. 4 – 8, will help students appreciate the many cultures at Oakland University.

“Cultural Awareness Week is important because it recognizes, educates and celebrates the diversity of cultures on OU's campus,” said Jean Ann Miller, director of the Center for Student Activities. “OU is more multicultural than it has ever been — reflected in the diversity of students who attend, faculty who teach, and staff who work here.”

The theme of this year’s Cultural Awareness Week is “Lighting the Way.”

“Lighting the Way is closely linked with the unity sun, the image used to promote Cultural Awareness Week 2002,” said Rachel Brown, Cultural Awareness Week co-chair. “Students have the opportunity to create their own bright future and we know OU students are dedicated and determined to do so.”
