2013 Conference on College Composition and CommunicationMembers of the Department of Writing and Rhetoric will be attending the annual Conference on College Composition and Communication in Las Vegas, March 13-16, 2013.
Thanks to Lori Ostergaard's hard work last summer putting together the application, and all of the work that our special lecturers and tenure track faculty have been doing to build cohesion and create engagement in first year writing, the department will be recognized at the awards ceremony in Las Vegas at the 2013 Conference on College Composition and Communication on Friday evening (March 15) at from 5:00 - 6:30 pm in the Grand Ballroom A.
This award program, established in 2004, honors writing programs that imaginatively address the needs and opportunities of its students, instructors, and locale; offer exemplary ongoing professional development for faculty of all ranks, including adjunct/contingent faculty; treat contingent faculty respectfully, humanely, and professionally; use current best practices in the field; use effective, ongoing assessment and placement procedures; model diversity and/or serves diverse communities; have appropriate class size; and have an administrator (chair, director, coordinator, etc.) with academic credentials in writing.
Other highlights of the conference include presentations by Alice Horning, Greg Giberson, Lori Ostergaard, and Dana Driscoll, as well as a panel on Writing about Writing by Dana Driscoll, Marilyn Borner, Timothy Briggs, and Christina Hall. Sheryl Ruszkiewicz will also be participating in the convention as an executive committee member for C's the Day, an augmented reality experience designed to enrich the conference experience.
