Financial Planning Boot Camp starts Jan. 4

The School of Business Administration at Oakland University is introducing a new program for people who want to become certified financial planners or who simply want to learn more about financial planning for their own purposes.

The two-week Financial Planning Boot Camp serves a dual purpose:

  • serving as a introductory course to the two-year Certified Financial Planner(TM) Certificate program

Financial Planning Boot Camp offers an introduction to the principles and analytic techniques of personal financial planning. Participants will receive a consolidated and intensive introduction to:

  • income tax
  • investment
  • insurance
  • retirement and employee benefits
  • estate planning

Classes will take place from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 4, 6, 11 and 13, and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan.15. The course is required as part of the university's Financial Planning Certificate Program.
