Swimmers, divers win Mid-Con championship
Oakland University's men's and women's swimming and diving teams captured their third consecutive Mid-Continent Conference Championships on Dec. 1 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The men's team finished in first place with 966.50 points. The women's team also finished first with 1,047 points.
On the men's side, senior Marc Gray was named the Men's Swimmer of the Year and teammate Chris Gawronski was named Men's Diver of the Year.
For the women, Oakland ran away with all the awards as freshman Tara Berringer was named Newcomer of the Year. Kingston, Jamaica, native Tamara Swaby was named the Women's Swimmer of the Year for the second year in a row. Senior Devon Cunningham was named the Women's Diver of the Year and head coach Pete Hovland received his second straight Mid-Con Coach of the Year award.
The men’s and women’s teams will compete at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Indiana, Dec. 6-8.
