Students advised to remain prepared for classes during work stoppage
The Oakland Univeristy chapter of the American Association of University Professors has elected to strike, which may impact fall 2009 classes scheduled to begin on Thursday, Sept. 3. Negotiations on a labor contract are scheduled to resume at noon on Thursday.

Though this action is a violation of Michigan law, students are advised that some faculty members could choose not to hold classes. Other faculty members could choose to hold classes despite the work stoppage.

Regardless of the status of negotiations, all university offices will be open to serve students and all campus activities, including Welcome Week activities, will proceed as planned.

For the most current information on the contract situation, visit the OU homepage or call the bargaining status hotline at (248) 370-2000.
