OU to host Campaign Roundup 2008 on Nov. 20By Eric Reikowski, media relations assistant
Oakland University will host Campaign Roundup 2008 from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, in the Oakland Center Gold Rooms.
The event features a panel discussion centering on the November general election, though emphasis will be placed on the presidential race both in Michigan and across the nation. Discussion also will focus on the races for the U.S. House of Representatives in Michigan.
Panel members will offer keen perspectives on how campaign decisions and circumstances influenced the outcomes of a historic election cycle, as well as how these outcomes will impact public policy and government as the nation moves toward the opening of the 111th Congress and the first term for President-elect Obama.
Panelists will include Chuck Stokes from WXYZ-TV, Mark Hornbeck from the Detroit News, Bernie Porn from the Lansing-based research firm EPIC/MRA and Rich Robinson from the Michigan Campaign Finance Network.
The event — co-sponsored by the Department of Political Science, the OU Student Congress and the political science honor society Pi Sigma Alpha — is free and open to all. A light lunch will be served at noon, followed by the panel discussion at 12:30 p.m. and a question-and-answer session immediately following.
To RSVP, call Karen Meyer at (248) 370-2352 or e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. RSVPs from those interested in taking part in the lunch must be received by Thursday, Nov. 13.
