Women’s basketball player receives excellence award
|Riikka Terava |
Oakland University senior Riikka Terava has been named one of the recipients of the annual Paul F. Lorenz/Texas Instruments Excellence Award for Rising Seniors for the 2008-09 academic year, as announced by the School of Business Administration.
The late Paul Lorenz, a former executive vice president of Ford Motor Company and long-time friend and benefactor of Oakland University and the School of Business Administration (SBA), established this annual award to be given to Oakland University SBA seniors solely on the basis of grade point average. Scholarships are awarded to the four rising seniors with the highest grade point among SBA students.
"As a coach I am extremely proud that our student-athletes are continuing to excel not just on the court, but in the classroom as well. This is truly an elite award and a solid example of the commitment our team has to success as athletes and as students," said head women’s basketball coach Beckie Francis.
