Soccer team beats MSU to advance in NCAA Tournament

The OU men’s soccer team won its first NCAA tournament game on Saturday, Nov. 24, beating MSU 2-1 in East Lansing.

The team will advance to the next round and play the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in Indiana.

Junior Piotr Nowak scored the game’s first goal and sophomore Stefan St. Louis netted the game winner early in the second half. Junior goalkeeper Steve Clark made some big saves for the Grizzlies, posting nine in the game, including three early in the first half to keep the game scoreless. The Spartans had a chance to tie the game with just 26 seconds left in the game on a free kick just outside the box, but the shot went high over the net and OU held on to win the game.
